Niching in a nutshell

Imagine this: You’re at a holiday party, and you’ve just told someone you are an interior designer. “What kind of design do you do?” they ask.

You hesitate, not wanting to limit yourself, but you reply, “I’m focused on creating spaces that balance family functionality with modern aesthetics.” Their eyes light up. “I know someone who might be the perfect fit for you.”

Niching isn’t about boxing yourself in. It’s about standing out. By defining what you do best, you make it easier for clients to find you and for referrals to flow your way. It’s not about doing less—it’s about doing more of what you love and attracting the projects that excite you most.

Question: how would you answer that person at the party?

Since 2017, I have helped over 100 interior designers, builders, builders, and architects – from those just starting out to award-winning designers published in Architectural Digest, Luxe, and more. My work is centered around face-to-face Zoom calls to help you uncover who you are and how you think as a designer. Then my partner, Meng, and I bring that to life in a way that matches the premium clients you want to attract.
